Printing $ with the Welcome Flow: Fake Flash Sale Tactic™

Introduce your brand, warm up your customers before buying and try to make them like you over time? Nah we don't do that here.

Printing $ with the Welcome Flow: Fake Flash Sale Tactic™

beacta.substack.com

If you were to ask any email marketer what’s the point of the Welcome sequence…

They’ll probably say something along the lines:

  • Introduce your brand

  • Warm your customers up before buying

  • Show off social proof

For me, the point of the Welcome flow is to get that first purchase.

As soon as possible.

And instead of using all the lousy sales tactics customers became immune to like:

  • Urgency (“we’re running out of stock”)

  • Scarcity (“limited time”)

I cut down on all the branding stuff, building up trust, and all the other BS…

And instead…

I developed my Fake Flash Sale Tactic™.

It’s a simple flash sale in a welcome flow…

But with a twist 🪄

And before you understand it…

You need to remember the core principle of email marketing:

The customer at no time knows whether they’re in a flow or a campaign. All they’re seeing is the present email.

So let’s abuse that fact 😎

#1 First email

The first email in the sequence is always the same.

“Thank you for subscribing, here’s 10% off. “

Keep the first email as it is.

It’s always good to save on discounts if you can.

#2 The announcement

The announcement.

The second email has two purposes -

  1. Hype up the sale

  2. Collect phone numbers #

So…

To hype up the sale, I usually go with something like “Important announcement (must read)”

Gets me clicks every time.

And then…

Tell them what you’re doing next and what are next steps for them.

I never go “We’re running a flash sale tomorrow”…

Instead…

Go with: “Tomorrow we’re starting our 90-day belly burning challenge”

See the difference?

Sample copy (written on the fly):

Joe, I have something special to share with you today. Since many of you guys asked me how is it possible to lose 30lbs belly in just 3 months before summer… I wanted to personally assist you all and develop a personal roadmap you can follow. For that reason, tomorrow we will be launching out 90-day Belly Burning Challenge. You will be able to stock up on all of our products for up to 30% off as well as get your free personalized roadmap to lose up to 10 lbs per month. Last time we did this, over 10,000 of you joined and we simply couldn’t keep up with the demand. This time, we’re doing something different. The only way you can get access to our challenge is through our VIP Club - Click the link below and enter your phone #.

#3 THE LAUNCH

Email #2 was just as important as this one. But this one will get all the revenue.

Now…

I did mention it in the previous one...

“The only way you can get access to our challenge is through our VIP Club “

But we gonna do it through email anyway…

The challenge has been opened to our VIP Club for 6 hours already, and before we close off the final 150 spots and you lose all the bonuses and the roadmap, click HERE.

This will be a bit more difficult to set up.

Takes proper SMS + email alignment.

#4 The follow-ups

Bump it to the top of their inbox. Literally.

Just find an excuse why to email 2-3 more times in the span of 48 hours.

  • Bonuses will forever disappear

  • We won’t open the challenge until next summer

  • Closing ceremony

This is why this works. There is no lousy “limited offer”, or “running out of stock” BS.

It’s actually believable.

Keep a few things in mind while doing this:

  1. It works best for the health/fitness niche

  2. We’re tracking revenue, not “brand engagement” or some other vague metric

  3. It’s all DR style, if it doesn’t fit your brand then don’t do it

  4. It’s best practice to have a separate landing page for the challenge with all the instructions. Do not link them to the product page.

  5. You need alignment across SMS + Welcome sequence + Post purchase to deliver the info products

  6. It’s a tactic, not a strategy.

  7. Final warning: It prints huge amounts of cash

Keep on grinding,

Beacta the BOOOILDER
